The Launch of the St. Rose of Lima New School Project

The launch of the St. Rose of Lima New School Project was successfully held on Saturday, 26 September 2026, bringing together learners, parents, staff, members of the community and other well-wishers.

The project aims to establish St. Rose of Lima as a reference school in the village, providing learners with quality education supported by modern learning facilities and a conducive environment for their academic, moral and social development. The launch therefore marked an important milestone towards realising this vision.

The day was marked by a variety of activities that brought together the school and the wider community. These included 5 km, 4 km, 2.8 km and 1.5 km marathons, cycling, football matches, volleyball and a family walk. These activities promoted unity, teamwork, healthy living and community participation in the development of the school.

A family walk for child protection

A special feature of the event was the family walk with white balloons, which served as a symbol of raising awareness about child protection and the safety of children in our society. The activity was inspired by the painful experience of a young couple who tragically lost their two children through drowning in dangerous canals constructed to help control flooding along the Nzoia River. Although the canals were intended to serve an important purpose, they have unfortunately also become a potential danger to children.

The family walk therefore carried a strong message: every child deserves to be protected, and the safety of our children is a shared responsibility. The community was encouraged to remain vigilant and to work together to create safe environments where children can grow, learn and thrive.

Media coverage

We were also privileged to have two leading media houses, KBC and the Standard Group, present to cover the event. Their presence gave the launch greater visibility and helped to share the school’s vision, the new school project and the important child-protection message with a wider audience. We look forward to the coverage being aired soon, which will further create awareness about the project and its vision for the community.

A celebration of hope

The launch was not only the beginning of a new school project but also a celebration of education, community ownership, child protection, unity and hope for a better future. The successful event demonstrated the commitment of St. Rose of Lima and the community towards building a school that will positively transform the lives of children for generations to come.

The launch was a great success and an important milestone in the growth of the school. With continued support and collaboration among parents, staff, learners, sponsors and the wider community, the project is expected to become a strong foundation for quality education, modern learning, child protection and the holistic development of children in the village.
